LAFAYETTE, Aurelie

Aurelie J. Lafayette, of Dover, N.H., died at the home of her father, David Lafayette, in St. Augustine on Dec. 18, 2009. She was born in Falls Church, Va., on Sept. 30, 1963, and was 46 years old. Her brother, Geoffrey A. Lafayette, of Madison, Wis., was by her side until hours before she passed. The two were great buddies, friends and competitors from the time they were born: in Alexandria and West Springfield, Va., in Fremont N.H., and in Plymouth, N.H., where they attended Plymouth State College at the same time. Aurelie's e-mail moniker was Lover of Maine. That summarized pretty well her relation to life. She enjoyed the outdoors and experiencing life alone: tenting, attending concerts, traveling, county fairs, and arts and crafts shows. She owned a condo in an older house in Dover and lived there alone with her faithful cats, Chia and Fortune. She took great pride in her cats. An example of her independence is what happened when her car broke down late at night several different times in the snow in New Hampshire coming home from work. Walking home the last few miles, she was picked up by the same state trooper and given a ride home. He suggested to her nicely that she consider buying another car. She laughed. That same car she drove down from New Hampshire and is now in her father's garage in St. Augustine.

In the last few years she grew an interest in parapsychology and was a member of TAPS and involved in the hunt for paranormal activities at the Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, N.H. She was also involved with the organization Becoming an Outdoors-Woman. She was employed for 11 years by Lindt and Sprungli, the chocolate company, in Stratham, N.H., as a line facilitator. She felt a strong connection to the company and to the many employees there. She was predeceased by her mother, Cornelia Whitten Lafayette. She leaves her father; her brother, Geoffrey Lafayette, of Madison, and his wife, Moira; a niece and nephews, Clarice, David II and Michael; several cousins from Marlboro and Springfield, Mass.; an uncle, Robert Lafayette, of Boston; and a friend of the family, Marilyn Allen, of St. Augustine. A memorial service will be held in the spring in Exeter, N.H. Donations may be made to Community Hospice, 525 State Road 16, St. Augustine, FL 32084. No flowers, please. Arrangements are being handled by the Craig Funeral Home in St. Augustine.

LEE, Thomas Andre

Thomas Andre Lee passed away Friday, May 23, 2008, in St. Augustine from injuries sustained from an automobile accident on State Road 206. He was born in Mountain View, Calif., on Jan. 15, 1966. In 1969, his family moved to St. Augustine, where he attended local schools. Tom was a true entrepreneur, involved in many things, primarily real estate acquisition and renovation. He acquired such projects such as the Sea Breeze Hotel on Anastasia Island and the Casa de Vilano on Vilano Beach. With each project, he lovingly over-improved things, much like he lived his own life, striving for perfection with every task. Tommy was an avid athlete, participating in numerous sports throughout the city. He spent many hours a day of his life enjoying his boat and the beach with his children, Stephanie and Damon, fishing, surfing and appreciating nature. Tommy traveled extensively as well, with his children and those he loved the most, to exotic destinations searching and finding, at times, the perfect wave for surfing was his true passion.

He lived with the knowledge and joy that every day he had was a gift and that we are all just passing through this life. Tom was like a son and brother to so many who knew him. He will be missed but surely not forgotten for the legacy of love and compassion he spread throughout this earth. God could not have given us a better son, father and brother. He was, for all that he achieved, his father's and family's superstar. He will be fondly remembered forever by his children, Damon and Stephanie Lee; his parents, James Lee and Mary Jo Ruiz; his siblings, Victoria Guttinger (Walt), Valerie Lee Kleinschek (Mike), Joseph Lee and Michael Lee; as well as nieces, Shelby Ayano and Skylar; and nephews, Ian and Weston; and by the countless friends whose lives he touched.
