FACEMIRE, Raymond R
     Raymond R. Facemire, 86, of St. Augustine, passed away at Community Hospice Hospital in Jacksonville at 6:15 p.m., Dec. 5, 2007, from a prolonged illness.
     He was born in 1921 in Richwood, WV. He graduated from Richwood High School and immediately joined the U.S. Navy, which he served for six years. Four of those years were spent as a signalman on the USS North Carolina in the Pacific during World War II. Raymond was aboard that ship during the battle of the Coral Sea, when it survived a torpedo hit. Raymond received an American Defense Ribbon, American Area Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal, one Silver Star and four Bronze Stars.
     In 1956, Raymond moved from New York to St. Augustine with his wife, Hilda, and their two children, Allen and Carol.
     He worked as a finishing carpenter for the Ringhaver Shrimp Boat Yard and then worked as a sheet metal fabricator for Fairchild Aircraft. He later took a position with the Navy as a civilian worker at the Jacksonville Naval Air Station. He retired after 15 years of service.
     Raymond had many hobbies, including playing checkers and chess. He was one of the top checker players on his ship during World War II, and he was one of the original founders of the St. Augustine Chess Club. He was an avid coin collector as well as a maker and collector of knives. In later years, he enjoyed building birdhouses in the shapes of miniature homes and lighthouses.
     He is survived by Hilda, his wife of 62 years; his two children, Allen Facemire of Atlanta and St. Augustine and Carol Hooper of St. Augustine; his brother, Gerald of Cayahoga Falls, Ohio; his five grandchildren, Greg, Jeff and Christopher Hooper, Amanda Facemire and Christopher Mewbron; and three great-grandchildren.

FALK, Francis C.
     Francis C. Falk, 91, of St. Augustine, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at Flagler Hospital. He was born in the Bronx, N.Y., and had resided in St. Augustine since 1982.
     He owned and operated a beauty salon with his late wife in Hawthorne, N.Y., and later worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a Letter Sorting Machine Operator until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army.
     Services: Private services are planned.
     Survivors: He is survived by his longtime companion, Florence Tompkins, St. Augustine; one daughter, Leesa Venettozzi, Baldwin, FL; and three grandsons. He was preceded in death by his wife, Simone Falk, and a daughter, Joseline DelConte.

FELIX, Anthony James
     Anthony James Felix, infant son of Tamela E. Davis and Alejandro Felix Jr., was stillborn on July 4, 2008, at Flagler Hospital.

     In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Nathan Andrew Felix; paternal grandparents, Alejandro and Christina Marie Felix, Hastings; maternal grandparents, Jimmy Ray Davis, Hastings, Pamela Walden Davis, Deland; paternal great-grandparents, Sandra Coons, Athens, N.Y., and Charles Coons, Hudson, N.Y.

FERRARO, Louise Marie
      Louise Marie Ferraro, 85, of St. Augustine, died Feb. 1, 2008, at Flagler Hospital. Mrs. Ferraro was a native of Jessup, Pa., and a longtime resident of Philadelphia before moving to St. Augustine in 1992. Mrs. Ferraro was a homemaker and factory worker in a chipboard manufacturing plant. She was of the Christian faith.
     Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Craig Funeral Home. Officiating: The Rev. David Shokes. Calling hours: 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Craig Funeral Home Chapel.
     Survivors: Her husband of 50 years, Joseph J. Ferraro, Jr.; son, Joseph J. FERRIGNO, Emily Margaret
     Emily Margaret Ferrigno, 87, of St. Augustine and formerly of Pennsauken, N.J., died Jan. 17, 2008, at McGraw Center for Caring in Jacksonville. Mrs. Ferrigno was a native of Torino, Italy, and had resided in St. Augustine. Mrs. Ferrigno was a homemaker.
     Services: 1 p.m. Monday at San Sebastian Catholic Church.
     Survivors: Her sons, William Ferrigno, St. Augustine, and James Ferrigno, Somerdale, N.J.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vito (Pete) Ferrigno.

FERRIS, Jason Matthew
     Jason Matthew Ferris, 31, of St. Augustine, died Jan. 2, 2008, at his home. Mr. Ferris was a native of Fort Thomas, Ky., and had resided in the St. Augustine area for the past 20 years. Mr. Ferris worked for Caps on the Water for the past eight years as a cook and an assistant manager.

FIELDS, Ayudrey McDermott
     Audrey McDermott Fields, age 71, of St. Augustine, Fla., died June 16, 2008, at her home. She was born in Philadelphia, Pa., and had resided here since 1979. She was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church. Audrey was the founder of the St. Johns County Drug Court and was very instrumental in its development. In 2001, St. Johns County Commission recognized Audrey as a special community leader. Audrey joins the love of her life, her husband, Air Force Major Charles Patrick Fields, who died during the Vietnam War, and her son, Mikey Fields, who at age 7, died of leukemia.
     Memorial services will be held 9 a.m. Friday at St. Anastasia Catholic Church, the Rev. Seamus O'Flynn, officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. Those wishing may make a contribution in her memory to the American Lung Association 5526 Arlington Road, Jacksonville, FL 32211. Her ashes will be placed in the Cloisters at St. Anastasia at a later date.
     She is survived by daughter, Robin Fields; son, Patrick Fields, both of St Augustine; son- and daughter-in-law, Charles and Beverly Fields, Jacksonville; five grandchildren, Christopher M. Fields, Pamela Robin Clukey, Michelle Lynn Fields, Robert Scott Fields and Stephanie Grissom; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Jackson.

FINN, John
     John Joseph Finn, 75, of St. Augustine, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at his home.
     He was a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., and came to St. Augustine in 1997. He served on the U.S.S. Duluth in the South Pacific with the U.S. Navy during World World II, then was a New York City firefighter for 10 years. He left to start his own law firm, Lynch & Finn, until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of Cathedral Parish, and the New York and New Jersey Bar Associations.
     Survivors include his wife, Margaret Linn Finn, three daughters, Mary, Peggy and Nora Finn; one son, Tommy Finn; one sister, Julia Mulligan; and six grandchildren.
     Funeral services are scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Craig Funeral Home, with prayers being recited at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Craig Chapel.

FIRTH, Jarques
     Jacques Firth, formerly known as Roy Thrift, 86, of St. Augustine, Fla., died April 19, 2008. A native of Spartanburg, S.C., he had lived here since 1987.
     He served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam, he attained the rank of Command Sergeant Major and retired after 36 years of service.
     He was of the Catholic faith.
     A memorial service will be held at a later date.
     He was preceded in death by his son, David Thrift.
     He is survived by his wife, Terri Adams Firth; children, Karanina and Tatiyana Firth of Orange Park, Fla., Bethany Firth of Australia, Luzcelenia Shaff of Simsonville, S.C., Chris Thrift of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Patrick Thrift, Jack Thrift of Greenbrae, Calif., and Letizia Thrift of Raleigh, N.C.; grandchildren, Chris Shaff, Rachel Thrift, Erica Thrift, April T. Hollinger, Jacqueline Thrift, Victoria T. Thrift, Liam Thrift, Cameron Thrift and Anneke Thrift, and Isaiah and Mala Firth; two great-grandchildren, Hailey Hollinger and Lexie Hollinger.

     Theresa M. Flanagan, 82, of St. Augustine, died May 4, 2008, at her home. Mrs. Flanagan was a native of Walpole, Mass., and had resided in St. Augustine for the past 20 years. She was a retired pharmacist and a member of St. Anastasia Catholic church.

FLANNERY, Gary
    Gary Flannery, 25, of St. Augustine, died Saturday, December 8, 2007, at the Earl B. Hadlow Center for Caring in Jacksonville. He was a native and lifelong resident of St. Augustine.
     Funeral services were held 6 p.m. Tuesday at Craig Funeral Home Chapel with The Rev. Donovan Tinsley, officiating. A visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Craig Funeral Home Chapel.
     He is survived by his mother, Lee Ann Osborne, of St. Augustine; his father, Gary L. Flannery, of Kingsport, TN.; a brother, Stuart Snead, of Colee Cove; maternal grandmother, Marie Shaw; maternal great-grandmother, Cora M. Biddulph; and several uncles, nieces and nephews.

FLIGHT,  Ambrose Warren
    Ambrose Warren Flight, 83, on Jan. 30, 2008, at Flagler Hospital. He was born in Chelsea, Mass., and had resided in the area since 2000, moving here from Fort Myers. Mr. Flight was a veteran of World War II and Korea, serving in the U.S. Army and retired from active duty as a Master Sergeant after 20 years of service. After leaving the Army, Mr. Flight joined the Foreign Service at the U.S. Department of State and worked for many years as a diplomat. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
     Services: Graveside funeral services with military honors, 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
     Survivors: Wife, Patricia Flight of Elkton; daughters, Terri Flight of Casanova, Va., Joan M. Flight of Jamestown, N.C., Mary Crigler of Manassas, Va.; a stepson, Bradley Koss of Kalamazoo, Mich.; a stepdaughter, Sharon Goodman of Charleston, S.C.; a brother, Rev. FOLLWEILER, Duke
     Duke Follweiler, 82, passed away Friday, March 28, 2008. He was born and raised in Tamaqua, Pa., and had lived in St. Augustine since the early 1940s. Duke worked for the U.S. Post Office in St. Augustine for more than 32 years before retiring and helping his son, Ollie, at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home in Cocoa Beach. He was a member of the Cocoa Beach Elks Lodge No. 2387.
     He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ollie and Sherry Follweiler, and grandson, Chad Follweiler. He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Pauline Green Follweiler.
     Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2008, at Craig Funeral Home in St. Augustine. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2008, at St. Augustine Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

FORD, Julia Jane (Judy)
     She was born in South Jacksonville to the late Spencer (Pete) and Althea Ford. She was raised in South Jacksonville, attended Landon High School and was in the first graduating class of Fletcher High School. After many years in the business community in downtown Jacksonville, she retired to the St. Augustine and Riverdale areas.
     She was predeceased by her parents, Pete and Althea Ford and her sister, Althea (Titta) Jenkins.
     Surviving is her husband of 45 years, Reford (Ray) Witt; daughter Carol (Don) Pitman; five grandchildren: Jere (Susan) Pitman, Susan (Mark) Slappey, Donna (Rod) Robertson, Matthew (Meloney) Pitman and Julia Lynne (Billy) Parry; 15 great-grandchildren; one niece, Camelia Fouraker and her daughter, Alden Fouraker; and two nephews, Frank and Roger Jenkins.
     A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd.

FRANKLIN, Virginia Frances
     Virginia Frances Franklin of Linville Falls, N.C., passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2008, at Cannon Memorial Hospital.
     She was born in Columbus, Ohio, a daughter of the late Jesse R. and Lucy Thompson Williams Sr.
Virginia was a member of the Linville Falls Community Church. She loved to dance and listen to Blue Grass music. Virginia founded the Barn Burner Cloggers.
     Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Garrett McWilliam Franklin; and brothers, Jim Williams and Jesse Jr. Williams; and sister, Terry Franklin.
     Survivors include her daughter, Alicia Krichbaum of Orlando, Fla.; sons, John Franklin of Linville Falls and Claude Franklin of Tampa, Fla.; sisters, Mary and Jean both of Columbus, Ohio; brothers, Edward Williams of Wassau, Wis., and Bill Williams of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Josh Franklin, Scott Franklin, Garrett Krichbaum, Olivia Franklin, and Luke Franklin.
     A memorial service for Virginia Franklin will be held on Thursday April 17, 2008, at 3 p.m. at the Linville Falls Community Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to your charity of choice.

     Anna B. Franta, 93, of St Augustine, died July 1, 2008, at her home.
     She was born in Endicott, N.Y.

     She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael, and two sons, Michael Jr. and David.

FRICKE, Louis Henry
     Louis Henry Fricke, 88, of Jacksonville, died April 13, 2008, in St. Augustine. A native of New Orleans, he was a chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy.
     Services: Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, at San Jose Catholic Church. The Rev. Fr. Jim Moss will officiate.
     Interment will be at a later date at Oaklawn Cemetery.

     He was preceded in death by his brothers, George, Henry and Theodore Fricke; and by a sister, Hilder Hezeau.

FRIEDLY, Mildred Thompson
     Mildred Thompson Friedly, 94, of Oxford-Grandville County, N.C., died April 22, 2008, at Grandville Medical Center. Mrs. Friedly was a native of Washington County, Md., and had resided in St. Augustine Beach for 35 years before moving to Oxford-Grandville County. She was a retired hairdresser and was a former member of Flagler Memorial Presbyterian Church. She was a founding member of the St. Augustine Bridge Club.

     Survivors: Her daughter, Joan T. Evans, Oxford-Grandville County; son, Robert Friedly, Mertz Town, Pa.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Friedly, and parents, Claude and Nellie Hammers Hottel.

FRITZSCH, Joyce Ann
     Joyce Ann "Nana" Fritzsch, 69, of St. Augustine, died on March 4, 2008, at her residence in St. Augustine. She was born in Pontiac, Mich., and was a longtime resident of Middleburg before moving to St. Augustine in 2000. She worked as the store manager for the Jiffy store in Middleburg for many years.
     A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2008, at St. Augustine Memorial Park with The Rev. Terrence Morgan, officiating. Interment will follow in the columbarium at Memorial Park.

FUNK, Donald E.
     Donald E. Funk, a resident of Ponte Vedra Beach, died June 1, 2008, at Flagler Hospital. He was 69 years old. Donald was born Jan. 22, 1939, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Daniel Suter Funk and Helen Catherine Hauser of Emsworth, Pa. He and his wife, Lorena, moved to Ponte Vedra Beach in August 1991.
     He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the AOPA, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
     He was a retired advertising artist and owner of AF&F Creative Services Group.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial service to be held at 2833 South Ponte Vedra Blvd. on Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at 7 p.m.
     Survivors include his loving wife, Lorena R. Funk of Ponte Vedra Beach; his devoted sons, Dean Funk (Kathy) of Austell, Ga., Darrell Funk, and Daniel Funk (Annette), both of Baltimore, Md.; his brother, Gerald Funk (Sue); grandchildren, three granddaughters and one grandson of Baltimore, Md.
