Jeanne C. Earle, 77, of St. Augustine, died Dec. 7, 2007. She was born in Atlanta, and moved to the Mandarin and Switzerland area in 1951. She was a member of the B.P.O.E. Mrs. Edminster had made her home in Elkton until moving to Kennesaw with her daughter and son-in-law. Services: A graveside service will be held 3:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Ambrose Cemetery in Elkton. Officiating: The Rev. Frank Sprecace. Survivors: Her daughter, Carolyn Kennedy, Kennesaw; sons, John C. Edminster Jr., Del Rio, Tenn., and Larry Rhoden, Crystal Beach, Texas; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives in the St. Augustine area. She was the last of nine children of Ernest and Mary Triay Masters. (St Augustine Record, 01/17/08 _________________________________________________________________________ EDMISTON, William Campbell Jr. William "Bill" Campbell Edmiston, Jr. passed away Feb. 12, 2008, in Brevard, N.C. Bill was the son of William Campbell Edmiston, Sr. and Louise Warren Edmiston, and was raised on a farm near Guthrie, Ky. He attended Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green on a basketball scholarship where he played under Hall of Fame coach E. A. Diddle and enjoyed the thrill of playing in Madison Square Garden before joining the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following discharge, he entered the University of Florida where he was awarded a basketball scholarship and acted as captain of the basketball team. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta. Bill was a proud member of the Florida Grand Guard and a loyal fan of Gators basketball. After graduation from the University of Florida with a major in accounting, Bill was employed by the Florida State Auditing Department before moving to St. Augustine where his father was General Secretary of the YMCA. In 1951, he and fellow C.P.A. Andy McGhin opened the first local practice of public accounting, which began a career as a certified public accountant that continued for over 56 years and included, among professional activities, service as a member of the Board of Governors of the Florida Institute of CPAs. Bill enjoyed actively serving his community as president of the St. Augustine Kiwanis Club and lieutenant governor of the Florida District of Kiwanis International; founding director, the First Fund campaign chairman and the second president of the United Way of St. Johns County; and president of the St. Augustine and St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce. He was honored by the Junior Chamber as Outstanding Young Man for 1959 receiving the Distinguished Service Award. Other community involvement included the Board of Directors of the St. Augustine National Bank and its successor, Barnett Bank of St. Augustine, for more than 30 years. Bill was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church for 58 years, having served as a Sunday School teacher, chairman of the Board of Trustees, and an elder of the church. He also served on several Presbytery committees. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Ann Young Edmiston; and his daughters, Margaret Greer Edmiston Agnew, Elizabeth Warren Edmiston, and Ann Hilliard Edmiston Fitzgibbons; and his two granddaughters, Tatiana and Torres. He is also survived by his sister, Helen Warren Edmiston Gitlin and brother, George Harrell Edmiston. His family and friends will remember him for his loving smile, quick wit and strong faith. Like his father "Mr. Ed", he was a generous and caring man who was respected by many. A memorial service will be held at Memorial Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 18, 2008 with a reception immediately following. Hadlow Center for Caring in Jacksonville. Jimmy was born in Chapel Hill, N.C., on Feb. 16, 1954, and moved to Jacksonville in 1955. He was the owner and operator of his family business, State Road 16 Nursery. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Tammy Edmonds, and his four daughters, Racheal, Jessica, Sarah and Shannon. Additionally, he is survived by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. James Edmonds III; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gordy Allen Lawson; brother, Mr. Stephen Edmonds (Dana); and sister, Mrs. Suzanne Losco (Jimmy). He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many beloved friends. He will be dearly missed by everyone. Mr Edmund was a member of the Special Operations Association and he served his country in the US Marine Corps during World War II and he re-enlisted in the Army Special Forces and served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, retiring as sergeant major in 1974. Mabry Edwards, 87, of Crescent Beach, Fla., passed away peacefully on March 10, 2008. He was born Aug. 9, 1920, in Quincy, Fla., and resided in Jacksonville until his appoint-ment as assistant adjutant general for the Florida Air National Guard at its State Headquarters in St. Augustine. As an accomplished mechanical engineer, pilot, boat designer and photographer, his competitive spirit was evidenced by his motto, "Luck is when preparation meets opportunity." He was taught to fly by aviation pioneer Laurie Younge, won several outboard hydroplane national and world boat racing championships, received his commercial captain's license from the Merchant Marine at age 22, was a pioneer in NE Florida offshore sports fishing, founded a boat building company and filmed Florida Gator and Gator Bowl football games as a commercial photographer. He designed and built numerous custom sports fishing and offshore race boats, including five class winners in the Bahamas 500 endurance runs. As a boat captain, he and his crew were credited with catching and releasing more than 1,100 billfish, including the first blue marlin caught off the First Coast. His military career began as a civilian flight instructor for the Navy. When the U.S. entered WWII, he joined the Army Air Corps. In 1945, he became a member of the initial Florida Air National Guard unit and later served as the 125th Fighter Group's Chief of Maintenance and senior pilot for several of the state's governors. Family members celebrating his life include: June Powell Edwards, his loving wife for 66 years; sons, Mabry Edwards, Jr. (Linda) and Lee Edwards; daughter, Susan Henderson (Robert); grandchildren, Tracy Edwards, Brian Edwards (Christine), Kevin Edwards (Kim), Graham Henderson, Katherine Dickey (Adam), Kimberly Whitfield (Clay), and Andy Edwards; and several great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Craig Funeral Home located at 1475 Old Dixie Highway in St. Augustine.
