DARBY, Kent
     Darby Kent, 81, of St. Augustine, Fla., died Feb. 19, 2008, at Kindred Hospital in Green Cove Springs.
     Mr. Kent, a native of Summerville, Mass., and a longtime resident of Cape Cod, Mass., was a retired security person for the Massachusetts Subway System and a licensed real estate salesman. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.
     He was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church. He also was a member of the American Legion and the Elks Club in both Massachusetts and St. Augustine.
     Services: A memorial mass will be said Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at 9 a.m., at St. Anastasia Catholic Church with Father Seamus O'Flynn officiating. A funeral service will be held at Massachusetts National Cemetery with military honors. Interment will be at Massachusetts National Cemetery.
     Survivors: His wife, Mary Lou Kent of St. Augustine, and brother, Alfred Kent of Pocasset, Mass.

DAVID, George Anthony
     George A. David, 70, of St. Augustine, Fla., died April 30, 2008 at his home. He was born on Dec. 10, 1937 in Collins, Ga., and grew up in Jacksonville, Fla. He attended St Paul's and Bishop Kenny High School where he met his wife of almost 50 years, Kay. He played football for the University of Tennessee and graduated from the University of Florida with an engineering degree.
He lived for 39 years in St Augustine, where he took great pride in his career as a home builder.
     In addition to his wife, Kay, he is also survived by his three children, Karen (Bobby) Jacksonville, Brenda (Richard), Jacksonville Beach, and George Jr. "Bubba" (Sheila), White Marsh, Md. He is also survived by his mother, Nellie David; brother, James David Sr. (Betty Lou); and sister, Edith David Miers (Erwin). He was preceded in death by his father, James David Sr.
    George had many nieces, nephews and cousins he loved very much, especially Butch Toney, whom he loved like a brother.
The family will receive family and friends at Craig Funeral Home Chapel from 10 a.m.-12 noon on Sunday, May 4, 2008 with a memorial service being held at 11 a.m. The Rev. Anthony Sebra, officiating.
    The family will gratefully receive flowers or donations can be made to NE Community Hospice.

DAVIS, Eddie Lee
     Eddie Lee Davis, 76, of St. Augustine, died Dec. 12, 2007, at North East Florida Community Hospice Center. Mr. Davis was a native of Gainesville, Fla., and had resided in St. Augustine. Mr. Davis was a former truck driver for the city of Sacramento, Calif., and had served as a deacon for many years. He was of the Baptist faith.
     Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Baptist Church. Officiating: The Rev. James M. Sams, pastor. Calling hours: 1 p.m. Saturday until the time of service at the church. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery.

DAVIS, Albinia Marie
     Albina Marie Davis died on Friday, Feb. 1, 2008 at the Mercy Center in Dallas, Pa., where she resided for the past year. She was born in Freeland, Pa., and lived in New York for 30 years before moving to St. Augustine with her husband in 1977.
A graduate of Bloomsburg University, Bloomsburg, Pa., Albina also attended University of Pennsylvania School of Social Work. She was a medical social worker for the National America Red Cross Disaster Service and American Red Cross Military Service.
While in New York, she was associated with the New York City Department of Hospitals and a board member of the Central Queens Red Cross Chapter and was on the Board of the Nursing Sisters of the Poor.
     In St. Augustine as a member of the Cathedral-Basilica Parish, Albina organized the "Our Lady of Fatima Circle" in 1980, and in 1985 opened the Cathedral Bell Tower Gift Shop. She also edited and published two books "The Cathedral-Basilica and its History" and "Historic Catholic Sites of St. Augustine", a walking tour.
     Albina was preceded in death by her husband Harry and is survived by a brother, Hyne Zadra of Daytona Beach, Fla.; nieces, Sister Angela Fellin RSM of Springfield, Pa., and Sister Mary Fellin RSM of Dallas, Pa., and many other nieces, many nephews and many great-nieces and nephews.
     Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday Feb. 8, 2008 at the Cathedral-Basilica with Rev. Christopher Liguori, parochial vicar, officiating. Interment will follow in San Lorenzo Cemetery.
     A vigil service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday Feb. 7, 2008 at the Cathedral-Basilica. Visitation will follow the vigil and continue until 7:30 p.m.

DAVIS, Aubrey
     Aubrey "Coot" Davis, 81, of St. Augustine, Fla., died Feb. 4, 2008, at Ponce Care Center. He was born in Pinetta, Fla., and had resided in St. Augustine for the past 60 years. He was a general contractor and had worked as a building inspector for St. Johns County. He was a member of the St. Augustine Boating Club, Knights of Columbus and San Sebastian Catholic Church where he served as an usher for many years. He served in the U.S. Navy.
     Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at San Sebastian Catholic Church, The Rev. Thomas Walsh, officiating. Burial will be in San Lorenzo Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Wednesday with a prayer service at 6 p.m. at Craig Funeral Home.      He is survived by his wife Ruth F. Davis; daughters and sons-in-law: Blinda (Colonel Frank) Busam, St. Augustine, and Darlene (Tom) Knight, Jacksonville, Fla.; son: Richard (Debbie) Davis, St. Augustine; five grandchildren: Kristi, John Michael, Fleet, Aven and Heather; one great grandchild, Ashley.

DAVIS, Deacon Harold Sr.
     Deacon Harold (Harry) Davis, Sr., 86, of Hastings, Fla., died Feb. 10, 2008, at Flagler Hospital. Deacon Davis was a native and lifelong resident of Hastings. Deacon Davis was a retired truck driver for Farmers Supply and Mechanic Company. He was a Sunday School Superintendent and sang in the Senior and Male Chorus and a member of the Choir Guild and was superintendent of the St. Johns Baptist Association of Ministers and Deacons Union No. 1. He was a lifetime member of the Gethsemane Baptist Church.
     Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Gethsemane Baptist Church of Hastings. Officiating: The Rev. Charles Ferguson. Calling hours: 4-7 p.m. Friday at Coleman's Chapel and on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the hour of service at the church. Burial: Masonic Cemetery, Hastings.
     Survivors: His daughters, Earlene Davis, Hastings, Hazel Anderson, Palatka, Josephine Davis-Hall, Baconton, Ga., and Ruby Fuller, Missouri City, Mo.; sons, Carl Davis, Sr., Baltimore, Md., and Harold Davis, Jr., Hastings; 32 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and other relatives and friends. DAVIS, Mary Elizabeth
    Mary Elizabeth Davis, 85, died May 21, 2008, at her home. Mary was born in Varnville, S.C., and was a native of St. Augustine since childhood, graduating from Ketterlinus High School.
     She retired from the St. Johns County School District where she contributed as a teacher's assistant, helping young children learn to read. Prior to joining the school district, Mary assisted her husband, Wilton, with his local independent insurance business.
     She was a lifelong and active member of Ancient City Baptist Church, serving her church as a volunteer, assisting with many beautiful weddings as well as helping out in the church office.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wilton Davis, and her brother, Pete Priester.
     She is survived by her three children, Barbara Davis Parr of Huntsville, Ala., and Howard Wilton Davis and Peggy Davis Gravitz, both of St. Augustine; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
     Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2008, in St. Augustine at Ancient City Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, May 26, 2008, at Craig Funeral Home, 1475 Old Dixie Highway, St. Augustine.

DAVIS, Wilford Charles
     Wilford Charles Davis, 81, died on Jan. 5, 2008, at Northeast Florida Community Hospice, Jacksonville, Fla. Mr. Davis was born on June 26, 1926, in Climax, Ga. His parents were Maggie and William Davis. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he relocated to Green Cove Springs. He retired from the Clay County School District maintenance department in 1988.
     His son, William Davis, and sons-in-law, Adolphus Drain and Roosevelt Merritt, preceded him in death.
     A memorial service will be held at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home in Cove Springs, Florida on Jan. 19, 2008, at 11 a.m.
     He is survived by three daughters; Willie Mae Drain, Marietta, Ga., Maggie Merritt, Decatur, Ga., and Cynthia Reese (Milton) St. Augustine, Fla.; a sister, Lucille Jones, Cairo, Ga.; a brother, Herbert Evans (Elease), Climax, Ga.; and sister-in-law, Daisy Davis, Green Cove Springs.

DE BOW, Lt. Col. Duane L., U.S. Army (Ret.)
      Lt. Col. Duane L. DeBow, U.S. Army (Ret.), 86, of St. Augustine, died Jan. 28, 2008, at the Earl B. Hadlow Center in Jacksonville. Lt. Col. DeBow was a native of East Orange, N.J., and was a longtime resident of Denver before moving to St. Augustine in 2002. Lt. Col. DeBow was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps and the U.S. Army. He retired as a lieutenant colonel after 30 years of service. He worked in the private sector for many years as a business consultant for the Hibbert Group and later for Johns Manville.
     Services: Private services were held in St. Augustine. A graveside service with military honors will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
     Survivors: His wife, Margaret DeBow, St. Augustine; a daughter, Debra Smith, Denver; a son, Christopher A. DeBow, Miami; two grandchildren.

     Earl Victor Dees, 71, passed away in St. Augustine on June 10, 2008.

DEFOE, William "Bill"
     William "Bill" Defoe, 80 of St Augustine died December 2, 2007 at his home. Mr Defoe was a native of Richmond, VA and was a longtime resident of Calvert County, MD before moving to St Augustine in August 2006. Mr Defoe worked in sheet metal fabrication for many years, most recently for Normac Sheet Metal Inc in Clinton, MD.

DE GRANDE, Joseph Salvador
     Joseph "Joe" Salvador DeGrande went to be with the Lord on Dec. 27, 2007, surrounded by his family. He was 63 years old.
     Joe leaves behind many to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Pat; sons and daughters-in-law: Joey (Jill) DeGrande, Greg (Terri) DeGrande and Chris (Dionne) DeGrande; grandchildren: Ryan (Rhieanna), Wesley, Tyler, Austin, Madelyn, Andrew and James DeGrande; great-grandson Kason DeGrande, all of St. Augustine; sisters, Anna Derry, of Rockville, Md., and Elizabeth Cannon, of St. Augustine; and a host of other relatives and friends.
    Joe was preceded in death by his parents, S.J. "Tudy" and Lena M. DeGrande.
    Joe was born in Boca Raton and resided in St. Augustine all of his life. He graduated from St. Joseph's Academy and attended St. Johns River Community college. He was a member of the Cathedral Parish his entire life. He worked many years as a salesman for DeGrande Appliance Co. before retiring
    Joe took great delight in teaching his children and grandchildren the joys of hunting, fishing and love of the outdoors. He was devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend whose amazing spirit and joyful laugh touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
     He will be sorely missed and will always be remembered for his great love of God, his family and friends.
     Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008 at the Cathedral-Basilica with the Rev. Christopher Liguori, parochial vicar, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Augustine Memorial Park.

     Tomie R. DeGrande, 65, St. Augustine, died Dec. 23, 2007, at Heartland of South Jackson-ville. He was born in Gainesville, Fla., and had resided in St. Augustine for most of his life. He was employed with St. Johns County as a water plant operator, and he served in the U.S. Navy.

     He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda DeGrande; his daughter, Joan DeGrande; mother, Joan Lichter, all of St. Augustine; three brothers, Rob Lichter and his wife, Karen, St. Augustine, Robert and Stephen DeGrande, both of Ft. Myers; four sisters, Dori Sommers, Boca Raton, Cyd Kayter and her husband, Mark, Massachusetts, Diane Green and Susan DeGrande, both of Ft. Myers; and one granddaughter, Chelsea Anne Meltose.
     He was preceded in death by a son, Daniele S. DeGrande.

DELAGE, Edward P.
     Edward P. Delage, 90, formerly of St. Augustine and Auburn, Mass., died Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at St. Vincent's Hospital, Worcester, Mass., after an illness.
     He leaves his three children, Stephen P. Delage and his wife, Nancy of Pomfret Ctr., Conn., Michael E. Delage and his wife, Jane of Dudley, and Christine D. Johnson of Brewster, Mass.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
     He was predeceased by his beloved wife Shirley (Largesse) Delage, in January 2008.
     Edward was born and raised in Worcester, the son of the late Edward J. and Victoria F. (Maguder) Delage. He spent many years in Charlton, Mass., and Auburn, before moving to St. Augustine in 1982.
     Prior to his retirement, Mr. Delage had worked for Lodding Engineering, in Auburn in the research and development department as a machinist. He also retired from the U.S. Navy Reserves as a chief petty officer, serving during World War II, Korea and Vietnam conflicts. He was a former member of Saint Joseph's Parish in Auburn, Fleet Reserve Association, the NRA, the Knights of Columbus, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He collected firearms, and was a skilled gunsmith and avid watch and clock repairer, and he enjoyed hunting and target shooting. He had previously been a National Rifle Association certified firearms instructor. As an amateur archeologist, he had participated in several digs at Flagler College in St. Augustine.
     He and his late wife gave many years of their lives to volunteer services in St. Augustine, among them volunteering at the Department of Mental Health.
     Services were held previously.

DELAGE, Shirley M.
     Shirley M. (Largesse) Delage, 78, of Webster, Mass., died Jan. 25, 2008, at Lanessa Extended Care Center after and illness. Mrs. Delage was a former resident of St. Augustine, moving here in 1982 and Auburn, Mass. She was born and raised in Worcester, Mass., the daughter of the late Earl T. and Winifred M. (Howe) Delage and was a volunteer with the RSVP program of St. Johns County.
     Services: Were held Jan. 29, 2008 in Auburn, Mass.
     Survivors: Her husband of 60 years, Edward P. Delage; her children, Stephen P. Delage, Pomfret Center, Conn., Michael E. Delage, and Christine D. John, both of Brewster, Mass.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

DELANEY , John Burns Jr.
     John Burns Delaney Jr., 85, of St. Augustine died March 8, 2008.
     John was truly a member of the greatest generation.
     As a child of the Great Depression of 1929, John delivered his paper route in the bitter, cold Philadelphia winters with his jacket stuffed with newspapers for warmth. He worked and helped support his mother and sisters even when he left home for the Navy in World War II. He continued this support until he married his wife, Evelyn, in 1947.
     During WWII, John and his shipmates worked as a team in the Pacific theatre in the submarine service. Their heroic actions included rescuing downed plane pilots and crew members (including a future President). This also included a daring rescue of a downed pilot in the Sea of Japan. The sinking of enemy supply ships by the submarine service was credited with crippling Japan's war effort which helped end this war.
     John returned to civilian life and married his wife, Evelyn. While attending Penn State, he was recalled for duty during the Korean conflict.
     After the Korean conflict, John Delaney started working in the transportation industry. He and Evelyn attended night classes to earn their bachelors' degrees and became teachers. They both continued their education until they earned their masters' degrees. They taught children and the children of those children in Jacksonville and Hilliard until they retired.
     In retirement, John and Evelyn traveled the USA from coast to coast visiting every state. The also loved to cruise the Caribbean, Alaska and Hawaii. With all of this, they still managed to volunteer and among other activities, delivered meals for the organization Meals on Wheels.
     He attended Memorial Lutheran Church of Martyrs and was a member of numerous fraternal organizations, including the U.S. Submarine Veterans of World War II, U.S. Submarine Veterans Inc., St. Johns Retired Educators Association, Elks Lodge 829, Asher Lodge No. 98, the Morocco Temple, the Uptown String Band and alumni groups for Penn State and the University of Florida.      John was a devoted and loving husband and a loving a devoted father to his four children.
     John Delaney Jr., is survived by his wife of 60 years, Evelyn Lloyd Delaney; sisters, Dorothy Schmidt and Mary Ann Kloss; son, John Delaney III (and his wife, Dot); daughter, Evelyn Louise Watson (and husband, Bob); son, Eugene Delaney (and wife, Vickie); grandchildren, John (Shawn) Delaney IV (and wife, Ashley), Devon Delaney, Michael Delaney (and wife, Allison), Mark Delaney (and wife, Rachel), Emily Watson, Jennifer Delaney; and great-grandchildren, Zach Delaney, Libby Delaney, Taylor Delaney, Jamie Delaney, Kelsie Delaney and Zoe Delaney.
     He is predeceased by his son, Robert Delaney; step brother, Patrick J. Delaney; and great-grandson, Keegan Delaney.

DELAUGHTER, Lurlean
     Lurlean Delaughter, 93, left to be with her Lord and Master on March 8, 2008. Ms. Delaughter was born in Quitman, Miss., and lived in communities in Mississippi, Louisiana, and England, before retiring with her husband to Picayune, Miss.
     She was married for 63 years to her husband, Dr. Thomas J. Delaughter, with whom she served faithfully as a pastor's wife and companion in service to our Lord.
     She was a member and officer in numerous organizations affiliated with churches of the Baptist faith and the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
     She was a writer, poet and artist who created many treasured memories that she gave to family and friends. Lurlean touched the lives of everyone she met.
     She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Picayune.
     Survivors include her daughter, Beth (David) Ball; son, Thomas (Grace) Delaughter; brother, Larry (Earlene) Waldrup; sister, Mary (Elzy) Smith; grandsons, Tommy (Robin) Ball and John Ball; granddaughter, Madeline Costa; great-grandsons, Dylan Studebaker and Colby Costa; and great-granddaughter, Manze Ball.

DEW, Edwin Sidney
     Edwin Sidney Dew, 82, of Palatka, died Feb. 9, 2008, at his home following an extended illness. A native of Omaha, Neb., Mr. Dew was raised in Tallahassee and moved to Palatka in 1961, coming from Cross City. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a 1951 graduate of the University of Florida where he earned his B.A. degree in forestry. Mr. Dew worked as a forester in the Woodlands Division with Georgia Pacific for 32 years. He was past president of the Lions Club of Palatka and a member of Rotary while living in Cross City. On of his many pastimes was re-building old forestry equipment that he would then donate to various museums. He also enjoyed and was well-known for compiling information about forestry in the North Florida area.
     He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sara Dew of Palatka; his children, Sarah (Carlos) Azula, Palatka, Susan (Bill) Phillips, St. Augustine, Chip (Terri) Dew, and Sydney (Joe) Breton, both of Palatka; seven grandchildren; and two-great-grandchildren.  
    Services will be 11 a.m. today (Feb. 12, 2008) at Trinity Methodist Church in Palatka. Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oakland Cemetery in Tallahassee.      Anna "Ann" Louise Diamond, 88, of St. Augustine, died May 23, 2008, at Glenmoor Heath Care. Mrs. Diamond was a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., and had resided at Glenmoor Health Care for three years. She was a fourth-grade teacher and graduate of New Paltz Normal School. She was a member of the Jewish faith, Lifeline for the Old in Jerusalem, the Historical Society of East Rockaway, N.Y., and of Alpha Kappa Phi Fraternity.

DODD, Yvonne Pacetti
     Yvonne Pacetti Dodd, 78, of St. Augustine, Fla., died May 11, 2008, at Flagler Hospital, after a lengthy illness.
     She was a native and lifelong resident of St Augustine. She was a 1947 graduate of St. Joseph Academy and 1950 graduate of St. Vincent School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at local hospitals and doctor's offices as well as the State Health Department. She was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church.
     Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Anastasia Catholic Church, Rev. Seamus O'Flynn, officiating. Burial will be in San Lorenzo Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Craig Funeral Home.

DOERR, Benjamin Irving
     Benjamin Irving Doerr, age 80, passed away on Jan. 13, 2008. Mr. Doerr was born in Daytona Beach, Fla., to George and Emily Doerr on May 29, 1927. He lived in Ormond Beach until he left home to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, he earned a BSBA degree from the University of Florida and was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Ben re-enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War, receiving several medals, including the Bronze Star.
Mr. Doerr married the love of his life, Joan LeSueur, in 1953. Together they raised three sons in Williston, Fla. Ben was a devoted husband who treasured his family and especially enjoyed the many hours they shared together around the family table.
A man of integrity and honesty, Mr. Doerr owned and operated Tri-County Oil Distributors for many years. He served as president of Williston City Council from 1966-1968. Ben and Joan retired to Crescent Beach, Fla., in 1987.
     Ben is survived by his three sons, Fred (Jill) Doerr of Ocala, Ben (Bonnie) Doerr Jr. and Mike (Sue) Doerr, both of Gainesville, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Craig, David, Allison, Daniel, Sara, Lindsay, Drew, Brett and Melina; and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Joan.
     A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ocala, Fla.

     Wendell Kennison Dow, 77, of St. Augustine, died April 6, 2008, at Flagler Hospital. Mr. Dow was a native of Winthrop, Maine, and had resided in St. Augustine since 1999. He was retired from the U.S. Navy as a chief petty officer with more than 30 years of service and was director of Cecil Field Library in Jacksonville. He was of the Nazarene faith.

DOWDY, Sue Marie Kilbourne 
     Sue K. Dowdy, 82, of Birmingham, Ala., passed away April 19, 2008, in St. Augustine.
     Sue was born April 8, 1926, in Berea, Ky., the daughter of Maude Parsons and John Butler Kilbourne. She graduated from Berea College (where she met and married Harold Glenn Dowdy of Greenville, W.Va.), earning a bachelor's degree in history and political science, followed by a master's degree in education from Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va.
     An impassioned school teacher, Sue was named West Virginia State Reading Teacher of the Year during the latter part of her career, and, after retiring, remained an active participant in local literacy and GED programs. Sue was an avid quilter with extensive interests in gardening, local history and cooking.
     Her Christmas candy will be sorely missed, as will be her generous spirit and strong sense of social justice.
     Pre-deceased by her husband, Harold, brother (Earl Kilbourne) and sister (Ruth Moran), Sue leaves two children and their spouses: John Glenn and Linda Taylor Dowdy of Birmingham (with whom she had made her home since 2003), and Jean K. Dowdy and Patrick S. Hamilton of St. Augustine; grandchildren Jennifer (Kenneth) Vass, Joseph (Rebecca) Dowdy, Anna O. Hamilton and Ian K. Hamilton; and great-grandchildren Madison and Morgan Vass.
     Other family members include a sister, Grace dePalma (Baltimore, Md.), two brothers: George Kilbourne (Moraga, Calif.) and Harry Kilbourne (Evans, Ga.); and numerous nieces and nephews.
     A gathering is planned for 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at Broyles-McGuire Funeral Home in Union, W.Va., with funeral services 10:00 a.m. the next day at the funeral home, with interment to follow at the Greenville Cemetery.

DOWNING, Aprilla Mae
     Aprilla Mae Downing, 80, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2008. Mrs. Downing was born the third of six children to parents Ai and Ethel Downing on April 1, 1928, in Oto, Iowa. She moved to Green Cove Springs in October 2007 after living in Palm Coast, Fla., for 12 years, coming from Anthon, Iowa. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Flagler Beach, Fla., and enjoyed arts and crafts and was an excellent seamstress.
     Mrs. Downing had been a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary No. 9124 in Oto, Iowa, since 1979. She will be deeply missed by her beloved family and many friends.
     She was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, Roy Downing, and three children, Ronald Huth and two infant sons; her parents; her five brothers and sisters: Thelma Farber, Mark Downing, Paul Downing, Laura Schlumbum and Alice Hurst.
     Survivors include five sons: Kenneth Huth and Pete Huth of Green Cove Springs, Roger Huth of Palm Coast, Vernon Huth of Green Cove Springs and Keith Huth of Riverside, Calif., and all of their families; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
     Memorial services will be held at First Baptist Church of Flagler Beach on Saturday, May 31, 2008, at 11 a.m. officiated by the Rev. Roger Huth and the Rev. Chet Thomas.

DOWNS, Edward C. Sr.
     Edward C. Downs Sr., 71, of Avalon, N.J., formerly of Pennsauken, N.J., died on June 22, 2008. He was a frequent visitor to St. Augustine.
     Mr. Downs was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor and dear father of Edward Jr. (Dona), of Audubon, N.J., Drew (Dorie) of Smyrna, Ga., and Christopher, of St. Augustine. He is also survived by his loving granddaughter, Nicole, beloved friend, Mary Detman, best friends, Bob Nielson and Joe Ziegler.
     Mr. Downs graduated from Camden High School in 1954 and Glassboro College in 1958. He received his master's degree from Glassboro College. He was a professor at Glassboro for 37 years and was a member of Christ Church in Philadelphia.

DOYLE, Frederick Gregory
     Frederick "Fred" Gregory Doyle, 75, a longtime resident of Palm Valley, Fla., passed away at home surrounded by his loving family March 28, 2008.
     He was born Oct. 14, 1932, to Frank and Annie Doyle in Short Hills, N.J., and moved to the Jacksonville area in the early 1950s. Fred was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He married Margaret Parsonage on Oct. 2, 1965, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Jacksonville Beach, Fla. Fred worked for and retired from BellSouth/AT&T in the Jacksonville and surrounding area. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends and family.
     Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Annie Doyle; brother, Bill Doyle; and sister, Pauline Kingman.
     He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Margaret Doyle; five daughters, Mary (Jack) Wood, Eileen (Alan) Booker, Kathy (Larry) Jarrell, Maureen (Todd) Fonda and Anna (Craig) Sammons; one brother, Frank Doyle; five grandchildren, Kevin, Erin, Sean, Grant and Lindsey; several nieces and nephews.

DULL, Frances M.
     Frances M. Dull, 69, of Connellsville, Pa., passed away Saturday, April 26, 2008, at her home in Connellsville after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 19, 1939, in Connellsville, a daughter of the late George and Madeline Rose Deemer Marco. Mrs. Dull was a graduate of Connellsville High School, class of 1957. She was employed by West Penn Power Co., later Allegheny Power for 40 years. Mrs. Dull served as the secretary of the board of directors of the Four Winds Condominium Association in St. Augustine. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Connellsville.
     She is survived by her husband, Richard G. Dull, with whom she would have been married to for 43 years in June; three sisters, Barbara Hill of Orlando, Fla., Darlene Anselmo and her husband, Kevin of Indiana, Pa., and Gayle Marco. Ph.D., and her husband, Larry Scanlon of Moon Township, Pa., and her nieces and nephews, Madeline Marco Scanlon, Jennifer Hill and Jeffrey Hill.

DUPONT, Andrew J. Jr
     Andrew Joseph "Drew" DuPont Jr. of St. Augustine passed away early New Year's Day 2008 at Flagler Hospital after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was 66 years old.
     Born in Jacksonville, Fla., in 1941, Drew moved to St. Augustine when he was a young boy. He attended Cathedral Parish School and graduated from St. Joseph's Academy. From there he graduated from the University of Florida and later received his MBA from the University of North Florida. After graduating from Florida, he attended Officer Candidate School for the U.S. Air Force and served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War as a B-52 aircraft commander. After completing his active duty service, he returned home and continued to serve in the Air Force Reserves and retired as a lieutenant colonel.
     Once back in St. Augustine, he and his brothers took over the family construction business, W.D. DuPont and Sons, where Drew served as president. He finished his career as a certified safety professional for Cedar Hill Insurance.
     Drew was a very active member of the local community in the following organizations: Kiwanis, Elks Lodge, Boy Scouts, Chamber of Commerce, Knights of Columbus and Parish Council of San Sebastian Catholic Church.
     Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Lynne DuPont of St. Augustine; his four loving children, Nicole Torres of St. Augustine, Andrew Joseph "Trey" DuPont III of Solana Beach, Calif., James Powell and Bryan Powell, both of St. Augustine; one sister, Sue Ann Nanney of St. Augustine; three brothers, Ed DuPont and John DuPont, both of Ponte Vedra, and Frank DuPont of St. Augustine; and seven beautiful grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Joseph DuPont Sr. and Sue Robbins DuPont.
     Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, from 7-9 p.m. at San Sebastian Catholic Church with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the same location on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at 11 a.m. followed by graveside services with full military honors at San Lorenzo Cemetery.
