SALAMONE, Dante Anthony
     Dante Anthony Salamone, 83, St. Augustine, died Dec. 21, 2007, at his home. He was a native of Boston, Mass., and had resided in St. Augustine since 1980.
     He was a civil engineer and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II.
     Services: Were held 9 a.m. Jan. 2, 2008, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Officiating: The Rev. William C. Mooney, pastor.
Burial: Interment will follow at San Lorenzo Cemetery.

SAMPLE, Sonya Elizabeth
     Sonya Elizabeth Sample, 71, of Melbourne and St. Augustine, Fla., died April 13, 2008, at Community Hospice McGraw Center, Mayo Campus, Jacksonville, Fla. She was born in New York. She was retired from IBM corporate headquarters as a program administrator. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Ridgefield, Conn.
     Funeral services will be held 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Craig Funeral Home Chapel, St. Augustine. Visitation begins at 5 p.m. and will continue following the services until 8 p.m. at Craig Funeral Home. Committal services will be private in San Lorenzo Cemetery, St. Augustine.
     She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Perry M. Sample; her mother, Genevieve Lang; her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis P. and Chantel Saunders Jr.; and grandson, Axel.

SAMPLES, William L
     William L. Samples, 29, of St. Augustine, died March 14, 2008, at Shands Hospital, Jacksonville, Fla. Mr. Samples was a native of El Reno, Okla., and had resided in St. Augustine since 2002. He attended middle school in New Jersey and high school in Minnesota before moving to St. Augustine. He joined the Marine Corps out of high school and later served his country in the U.S. Army, completing two tours of duty in Iraq and one in Korea.
     Services: A memorial service will be held 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, U.S. 1 South in St. Augustine.
     Survivors: His parents, Tammy and Jeffery Chapman, St. Augustine; his father, William J. Timanus; sisters, CJ, Windy, Stormy, and Erica; a brother, Ryan. He is also survived by his grandparents and many other family members and friends.

SANCHEZ, Aldon B.
     Aldon B. Sanchez, 85, of Starke, Fla., died, March 19, 2008 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Gainesville. Mr. Sanchez was a native of Lakeland, Fla., born Dec. 16, 1922. He joined President Roosevelt's Civilian Conservation Corps and later he joined the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. After returning from the war, he attended the University of Florida earning a master's degree in agriculture. He was employed with Velda Dairy Farms, working and living in Penny Farms and Broward County, Fla. He became mayor of Cooper City, Fla. Mr. Sanchez worked in the field of cattle artificial insemination and was a dairy feed specialist serving Florida dairy farmers.
     Services: A visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2008 at Daniels Funeral Homes in Branford, Fla., followed by graveside services at 2:30 p.m. Burial: Rock Sink Baptist Church Cemetery.
     Survivors: He is survived by a son, Aldon Sanchez Jr., Starke; daughters, Elaine Peverell, Brooksville, Fla., and Diane Sanchez, Hawaii; sisters, Eloise McAfee, Jacksonville, Fla., Catherine Hurst, Branford, and Florence Hines, Marietta, Ga.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

SANDERLIN, Loretta
     Loretta Sanderlin, 81, of St. Augustine Beach, passed away on March 11, 2008, at home.
     She was born June 3, 1926, in Pueblo, Colo. Loretta spent most of her childhood in Wichita, Kan., moving to St. Louis, Mo., during high school. This is where she met and married Joseph Sanderlin. After Joseph's career in the U.S. Navy, they retired to St. Augustine Beach.
     Loretta enjoyed playing tennis. She was involved with several local tennis leagues through Marsh Creek Country Club. She was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist of St. Augustine.
     She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Joseph Maynard Sanderlin; daughters Mary Fanelli (Jim), Helen DeCosta (Rick) and Jane Walker (Chuck); and son, Joseph Maynard Sanderlin Jr. Loretta is also survived by seven grandchildren, Karly, Alison, and David Sanderlin; Leah and C.J. Walker; Andrea Porreca (Mike); and Katie Widen. Loretta also had one great-granddaughter, Breanna Bemont.
     At Loretta's request, services will be private.

SANDERS, George E Jr
     City Commissioner George E Sanders Jr, 88, of Palatka, died December 4, 2007 at Putnam Community Medical Center in Palatka after a short illness. Commissioner Sanders was a native of Anderson, SC and attending public schools there, a veteran of
the US Army/Air Force during World War II and he earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Georgia State University. He was elected as a commissioner of Patlatka in 1989, served on Group 1 until January 2000 and returned as commissioner of Group 4 in 2002.
     He was past president of the Northeast Florida League of Cities Board of Directors, past chairman of the FLC Juvenile Justice Committee, The Palatka Firefighter Pension Board of Trustees and commision-liaison to the Palatka Tree Committee, Golf Course and Airport Advisory Board, Putnam county Historical Society, past member of the Kiwanis Club of Palatka, Palatka Lodge No. 34 Free and Accepted Masons, and the Morocco Shrine Club, among others.
     Services: 2 pm Friday at the First Baptist Church of Palatkas. Officiating: The Rev Charles T Rabun Jr and Mayor Karl N Flagg. Calling hours: 6 to 8 pm today at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka. Burial: Oak Hill West Cemetery with Masonic Lodge No. 34 F&AM conducting Masonic rites.

SARUBBI, Margaret
     Margaret Sarubbi of St. Augustine went home to her heavenly father on Jan. 4, 2008, surrounded by her family. She was 83. Born in New York City on May 28, 1924, she was the daughter of Henry and Caroline Jappell. She moved to Orlando in 1954. She was a retired Realtor and banker. BaBa, as she was affectionately called, is survived by two sons who made careers out of serving their country and community: Jonathan, a retired U.S. Coast Guard captain, and Douglas, a detective sergeant with the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
     She is also survived by daughters-in-law Aijen Sarubbi and Wendy Spirduso Sarubbi and two grandchildren, David and Megan. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Downtown in Orlando and Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in St. Augustine. She loved history, walking on the beach, gardening and admiring the sunset and other natural glories of God's wonder. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Felix, and her cousin, Carole Stevens. Her faith, devotion to family and feisty spirit were an inspiration. "There have been many times when I faced a problem and had no answers," said her nephew, Joe. "I would ask what Aunt Margaret would do. She would always do what was right."
     Funeral services will be Jan. 10, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Downtown, 123 E. Livingston St., with The Rev. Jeff Moore and The Rev. Albert Oren, presiding. Viewing is Jan. 9, 2008 from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Carey Hand Cox-Parker Funeral Home, Winter Park.

SASSE, Marie Louise
     On March 13, 2008, Marie Louise Sasse of Linthicum, Md., died. Wife of Mark Sasse. Devoted mother of Mark B. Sasse, II. Loving daughter of Judy Davis, St. Augustine, and the late Rodney Plank. Fond sister of Chris Plank. Cherished granddaughter of the late Helen and Joe "Pop Pop" Delbrocco. Mrs. Sasse studied at Carlow College in Pittsburgh, Pa., where she earned her bachelor's degree and earned her master's degree as well as was working toward her Ph.D. Marie was a major with 459th ASTS USAF Reserves at Andrews Air Force Base and had served a tour of duty in Iraq. She was employed by the Veterans Administration. Marie was a member of the American Legion and St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. She was a patriotic woman.
     She enjoyed many hobbies in life including crafts and country music and spending time with her family. She was dearly loved by her family, her friends and her patients. She will be missed by many.

SASSER, Alice Mae Bell
     A memorial service has been scheduled for Saturday, July 12, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in memory of Alice Mae Bell Sasser, a life-long St. Augustine resident who died May 27, 2008.
     Born in St. Augustine on December 10, 1918, Alice grew up in St. Augustine and graduated from Ketterlinus High School in 1938. After she and her husband first married, they lived for a short while in Miami, where their daughter Anne was born. They subsequently returned to St. Augustine to raise their family. Over the years she made a lot of friends, especially through her involvement with the Council on Aging and volunteer work with Meals on Wheels.
     She is survived by her daughter Virginia Sasser of Tallahassee; sons, John Sasser (Lesta Ann) of Jacksonville, Charles Sasser of Orlando, and William Sasser III of St. Augustine; and two granddaughters: Pamela Arnett of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and Elizabeth Rinaldi (John) of Birmingham, Ala. She was predeceased by her husband, William "Bill" Sasser Jr., and daughter Anne Arnett.
     The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations to the Council on Aging Meals on Wheels Program be made in memory of Alice Sasser.

SAUL, Marietta Davis
     Marietta Davis Saul, 80, of St. Augustine, died Dec. 13, 2007, at her home. Mrs. Saul was a native of Valdosta, Ga., and had resided in St. Augustine since the late 1940s. Mrs. Saul was a dormitory teacher at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind, a church mother and a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of New Hope Universal Holiness Church.
     Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, at St. Paul A.M.E. Church. Officiating: The Rev. Ron Rawls, pastor and The Rev. Raymond F, Williams, Hosley C.M.E. Church, Philadelphia, Pa., is eulogist. Calling hours: 5-9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. Burial: Craig Memorial Cemetery.
     Survivors: Her husband, The Rev. Willie Saul; her children, Elijah Davis, Jacksonville, The Rev. Wallace E. SAVARESE, Gary Eugene
     Gary E. Savarese, 64, of St. Augustine, passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, at home, following a courageous two-year battle with brain cancer.
     Gary was born Jan. 31, 1943, in Denville, N.J., the son of the late Romeo and Jean Savarese. He graduated from the University of Dayton and earned an MBA from Michigan State.
     He was a business manager for Eastman Kodak Co. in Rochester, N.Y., retiring after 34 years of dedicated service. He and wife, Cathy, relocated to St. Augustine in 2002.
     In retirement, Gary found great joy in serving the patrons at the Southeast Branch of the St Johns County Library. He loved his time there, and his library family became very dear to him.
     Gary was first and foremost a family man. He was a thoughtful, loving and caring husband, devoted father and grandfather, faithful brother and a true and selfless friend to many people. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.      He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Cathy Savarese, of St. Augustine; son, Mark Savarese of Stevenson, Wash.; daughter, Jaime (Tommy) Foran, Hopatcong, N.J.; one brother, William Savarese, Prescott, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Jacob and Ava Grace Foran; his oldest and dearest friend, David (Carol) Vigren, Middlesex, N.Y.; a large extended family; and many wonderful friends and neighbors.
     He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Gary Savarese Jr.
     A memorial service will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at St. Anastasia Catholic Church with the Rev. D. Terrence Morgan officiating.

SCHILD, Phyllis M.
     Phyllis M. Schild, 78, of St. Augustine passed away on April 17, 2008, in Jacksonville, FL. She was the love of my life -- my best friend, my sounding board and the mother of our children. Phyllis was a 10-year member of the Elks and a life member of the VFW.       She was a caring and helping person with a smile for all. Phyllis you will be missed!
     Phyllis is survived by her husband, William R. Schild; daughter Tracey S. Johnson; son Michael K. Schild; brother Carl Berkheimer; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her daughter, Linda J. Dorsey Brown.

SCHLAGLE, Kathryn A.
     Kathryn A. Schlagle, 77, of St. Augustine, died June 13, 2008, at St. Augustine Health & Rehab Center. She was a retired nursing supervisor from Berlin, N.J., and had resided in St. Augustine since 1994.
     Survivors: Her husband, Robert Schlagle, sons, Bob and Matt, and a daughter, Kathy.

SCULL, Edward
     Edward Scull was born Aug. 20, 1924, in Somerset, Pa., the only child of Edward Scull Sr., a banker, and Nina Woloshuk, an artist.
     In 1942, he graduated from Haverford School, Haverford, Pa., where he was on the swim team, rowed on the varsity crew and captained the football team.
     He graduated from Princeton University in 1946 and served in the U.S. Army before attending Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. Dr. Scull served his internship and residency at Jefferson before moving to New York City's Bellevue Hospital with a fellowship in rheumatology.
     He then went into private practice in Hartford, Conn., and was involved in many of Hartford's community health services. He also served on the boards of many foundations.
When Dr. Scull was 58, he retired to Nevis, West Indies, where he spent many years raising rare fruits and orchids and traveling to collect plants and seeds from around the world. In 2001, he and his wife, Lennie, moved from Nevis to Glenmoor Retirement Village in St. Augustine.
     Family members include his wife, Madelon (Lennie) and four children from a previous marriage, Suzanne Scull Trzcienski, Edward Scull Jr. (killed in a plane crash in 1981), Elizabeth (Lisa) Long Scull and Timothy Taylor Scull; two stepchildren, Frank Cunningham and Victoria Cunningham Murphy; four grandchildren, Aime Trzcienski Franco, Torrey Trzcienski, Justin Edward Scull and Taylor C. Scull; a stepgrandson, Jameson Case, and two great-grandsons, Nikolaus and Emilo Franco.
     A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 11, 2008, at 3 p.m. in Crichton Hall located at Glenmoor Community Center in the World Golf Village.
     In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to "Glenmoor Scholarship Fund" in care of the Members Association at Glenmoor, 235 Towerview Drive, St. Augustine, FL 32092.

SCHULTZ, Eleanor Dale
     Eleanor Dale was born in Bellefonte, Pa., on Aug. 27, 1922. She married John Wheeler Schultz in November 1943, prepared to be a farmer's wife near Kutztown, Pa. The Lord had other plans. They went to China as missionaries in 1947, back to Pennsylvania due to the Communist occupation in 1949 and then to Hong Kong from 1972 to 1983 when John went to be with the Lord.
     Eleanor was predeceased by her oldest son, David.
     She is survived by three children; Susan Neely, Steve Schultz and Martha Sushereba; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Many other family members and friends who loved her also survive.
     She lived in St. Augustine, Fla., for several years with her daughter, Susan, and grandson, John Neely. She operated the Lighthouse Christian Outreach for a time. Eleanor was a friend and helper to everyone in contact with her. She was a perpetual student but also a teacher of the Bible wherever she could gather a group of women. She had worked as a library assistant at Penn State and in Hong Kong and also worked in the lab in Erie, Pa. Her home was always open to others no matter where it was.
She was a faithful servant of the Lord. She was an example of the salt and light that Christ's followers are called to be. Eleanor continually ratified the proposition that the source of light in her own life, Christ Jesus, had the power to change her. He granted her everlasting life, which is available to every man as a free gift. She demonstrated the gospel by her love of all others.
She transitioned to her home in the Heavenlies to worship the Lord face to face on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007. She would welcome everyone to join her.
     Her body was donated to Alzheimer's research as she wished. Memorial gifts may be given to the Christian Study Center in Gainesville, Fla.
     Celebration of life will be at the Park of the Palms Church in Keystone Heights, Fla., on Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at 10 a.m.

     Grace Darling Schulz, 84, of St. Augustine, died April 23, 2008, at Haven Hospice, Palatka, Fla. Mrs. Schulz was a native of Staunton, Ill., and had resided in St. Augustine since 2000. She was a retired aircraft mechanic with Northrop/Grumman. She was a member of the Lutheran faith.

     Jeanette A. Schultz, 85, of Bradley/Bourbonnais, Ill., died July 1, 2008, at Manor Care, Kankakee.
     Ms. Schultz was born on April 5, 1923, in Harvey, Ill., to Leon LeDuke and Blanche Dajenais.
     She worked for General Foods and served as a Village Trustee and as a School Board member.
     She is predeceased by her husband, Billy Schultz, her parents and her brother, Leo LeDuke.
     She is survived by her children, Billy L. (Toni) Schultz, of Mule Creek, N.M.; Paul (Sandra) Schultz, of Chestertown, N.Y.; Sharon Wimberly, of Mishawaka, Ind.; Joanne Stoval, of St. Augustine; and Roxanne Hines, of Bourbonnais, Ill; sisters, Berniece Sicard, Leona Pearman, both of Bradley, Ill.; brother, Clarence (Patricia) LeDuke; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
     A funeral will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Maternity BVM, and visitation is today from 4-8 p.m. at Kankakee Chapel. Memorials can be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
     The burial will be at Kankakee Memorial Gardens.

SCULLY, Daniel Joseph
     Daniel Joseph Scully, 58, of St. Augustine, died Jan. 25, 2008, at home. Scully was a native of Lindenhurst, N.Y., and worked as a bus operator for the New York City Transit Authority. He was disabled while serving in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
     Services: Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.

SEAVER, Thomas Matthias
     Thomas Matthias Seaver, 71, of St. Augustine, died March 11, 2008, at his home. Mr. Seaver was a native of Chicago Heights, Ill., and has resided in St. Augustine since 1982. Mr. Seaver was a member of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church. He retired in 2002 after many years of service at the Shrine of the Mission of Nombre de Dios.
     Services: A funeral Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Officiating: The Rev. William Mooney. SEGUI, Ruth Antionette Banta
     Mrs. Ruth Antoinette Banta Segui, 85, of 115 Surfside Ave, Vilano Beach, died Tuesday morning Dec. 4, 2007, at her home. She was born Jan. 8, 1922, at 13 Charlotte St, St. Augustine, at the home of her grandparents, Paul and Helen Capo. She was the widow of Everett Russell Segui, Sr. a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, having served in World War II. Mr. Segui died in 1996 in St. Augustine. She was also the daughter of the late Eunice A. Capo Banta and Herbert Stanley Banta of Surfside Avenue who owned Surfside Casino during WWII and later owned Banta's Cottages on Vilano Beach.
     In 1938, she married Mr. Segui, and they lived in New Smyrna, St. Petersburg, and later moved to Jacksonville in 1951, where she worked as a payroll clerk for Foremost Dairies, and was later employed by the State of Florida as a bookkeeper.
     In 1960, she began training dogs in obedience. She was the only person to train Boston Terries to the highest level of obedience certification at the time.
     She retired 25 years ago and moved back to St. Augustine where she and Mr. Segui built their home two doors down from her mother, Mrs. Eunice Banta. She and her husband traveled extensively throughout the west and northwest in their motor home, sometimes being gone for a year or more. She was a member of Cathedral Parish.
     Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Craig Funeral Home Chapel, The Rev. Patrick Carroll, officiating. Family will receive friends at Craig Funeral Home 1 p.m. until time of services Monday. Burial will be in San Lorenzo Cemetery.
     Survivors include two sons: Everett Russell Segui, Jr.(Bonnie), Guntersville, AL., Richard Stanley Segui (Jacqueline), Tucson, AZ.; one granddaughter, Pamela Dianne Segui Slatsky (Michael) Birmingham, AL.; three great grandchildren, Katherine M. Slatsky, Alexander M. Slatsky and Damian M. Slatsky, Birmingham, AL.; one sister, Mrs. Eunice B. Bowen, Albany, GA.; one nephew, James W. SENMAN, Haluk "Hank"
     Haluk "Hank" Senman, 82, of St. Augustine, died March 22, 2008 at the Moultrie Creek Nursing and Rehab Center, St. Augustine. He was born in Adana, Turkey, and had lived in many different countries working as a chemical engineer for Union Carbide. He had lived in St. Augustine since 1993, moving here from Charleston, W.V. He was a member of the Chemical Engineering Society and was a Mason and a Shriner.

     Survivors: His wife, Ulla Britt Senman of Crescent Beach; two daughters, Linda Senman-Boyd of Lexington, Ky., Suna Senman-Lane of Chappaqua, N.Y., and a sister, Bilge Tunca of Istanbul, Turkey; and four grandchildren.

SHANNON, Rudeen Dubose
     Rudeen Dubose Shannon, 73, of St. Augustine, died Dec. 17, 2007, at her home. Mrs. Shannon was a native of Loango, AL, and had resided in St. Augustine since 1949. Mrs. Shannon was an inspector with Wise Foods for 25 years. She was of the Baptist faith.

SHEARER, Wilbert Francis
     Wilbert Francis "Will" Shearer, 73, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2008, in Jacksonville, Fla. Will was a long-time resident of Jacksonville, was very active in the community. For many years he was active in the Knights of Columbus and involved in sports with his children. He was well known and respected member of the advertising community for over 40 years. He had his own advertising agency, worked for the Florida Times Union, was local sales manager for WJKS-TV, WAWS-TV, and WTLV-TV, and was a past president of the Jacksonville Advertising Federation. Will attended both the University of Florida and Jacksonville University. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
     He is survived by his loving wife, Gail Henley; his daughters, Linda Joyce Harris (Wayne) and Debra Marie House (Peter); his sons, Stephen A Shearer, Michael A. Shearer (Juliet) and David Christopher Shearer (Amy); his children's mother and former wife, Patricia Joyce Shearer; step daughter, Tracy Henley; step sons, Craig Henley and Richard Allen Henley, Jr. (Angie); a brother, Edward Shearer (Ione); 13 grandchildren and step-grandchildren including, Lindsey, Melanie and Jenna Shearer, Christopher Dempsey, Douglas Harris, Peter, Rachel and Marissa House, and Kelly, Allison and Brooke Shearer; one great-granddaughter, Haley Rae Dempsey; and many other loving relatives and friends who will greatly miss him.
     Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2008 in the Chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. The celebrant will be The Rev. Steven Zehler. SHEERS, Frank J.
     Frank J. Sheers, 77, of St. Augustine, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, at his home. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., and had resided in St. Augustine since 1989, moving here from Jacksonville.
     He started his career with the Pennsylvania Railroad. He held several other jobs before moving to Jacksonville in 1970 and working in construction. He then moved to St. Augustine and worked as a Wal-Mart stocker until retiring.
     He served in the U.S. Navy and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus in Runnemede, N.J.
     He was a longtime member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
     Services: A memorial service will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Officiating: Rev. William C. Mooney.

     Sarah Annette Siegel, 70, of St. Augustine, Fla., died Dec. 26, 2007, at The McGraw Center, Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, Jacksonville, Fla. A native of Grady County, Ga., Mrs. Siegel had lived in St. Augustine since 1992.
     She was a wife, mother and homemaker. She was a member of Crescent Beach Baptist Church.

     Survivors: She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, John A. Siegel; her daughters, Carol Bishop of Keystone Heights, Fla., and Gail Voris of Brownsburg, Ind.; her brother, James Earl Dean of Bainbridge, Ga.; and two grandchildren.
     She was predeceased by one grandchild.

SIMPSON, James D.
     James (Jim) D. Simpson, 72, formerly of St. Augustine, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008 at St. Michaels Hospital in Texarkana, Texas after a short illness. While in St. Augustine he was the owner of Jim's Drywall and the Driftwood Motel.
     He is survived by his daughter, Vickie (Pete) Smith of St. Augustine; granddaughters, Rhiannon Smith of Jacksonville and Mae (Scott) Orloff of Oakton, Va.; sister, Mary Lou Perkins of Burton, Mich.; brother, Kenneth (Audrey) Simpson of Gladwin, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Ann Peters Simpson and his brother, Bill Simpson.
     A memorial service is planned for March 15, 2008, at Miles and Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris, Mich. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Humane Society.

SISSON, Ray F Jr
     Ray F. Sisson Jr., 81, of Rockville, Md., died Dec. 18, 2007, at Casey House Hospice in Rockville. Mr. Sisson was a native of Baltimore, Md., and was a longtime resident of St. Augustine before moving to Rockville in 2003. Mr. Sisson was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Marine Corps, and was wounded in the battle of Iwo Jima. He later worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Baltimore, retiring to Florida in 1980.
     He worked as a volunteer for the Flagler Hospital Auxiliary and was a member of the Marsh Creek Country Club, the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.
     Services: A funeral mass was held Dec. 22, 2007, at St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church in Pikesville, Md.

     Joseph James Skulavik, 78, of St. Augustine, died Feb. 16, 2008, at his home. Mr. Skulavik was a native of New York, N.Y. and had resided in St. Augustine since 1989. SLOCUMB, Charles Percy Jr and Geneva Partin Slocumb
     Charles Percy Slocumb Jr., 81, died Jan. 3, 2008, and Geneva Partin Slocumb, 75, of Bayard, Oct. 23, 2007. Both died at home. Mr. Slocumb was a native of Leon County, Ga., and Mrs. Slocumb was a native of Hazelhurst, Ga. Both had lived in Bayard since 1949. He was retired from Lane Crane in Orange Park after many years working as a welder. Mrs. Slocumb was a housewife.
     Services: A joint service will be held Jan. 21 in Monticello at Eveneezer Baptist Church and Cemetery.
Survivors: Their daughter, Charlene Atkins, Palm Valley; Mr. Slocumb's sister, Jean Black, Miami. They were predeceased by their daughter, Jeanette Foley.
